Meadow Orchard Project

Special event: Saturday 8 August, ‘Meadow’ – a puppet show by Old Saw, performed in the meadow cob house.

Meadow  is  an original puppetry production for children 3+, created by Little Angel Theatre’s Associate Artist, Greta Clough. There will be two performances – one at 11.00am and one at 3pm. The show lasts 45 minutes.

The event is free (donations accepted). No booking required.

The grass remembers.  It remembers you.  It remembers me.  And it remembers the animals that called the meadow home.

Time changes everything. In a post-human future, only the grass remembers the way things used to be. Meet the animals and insects that lived in the meadow, and see their stories come to life. Old Saw return with a new puppetry show for children and their families. Told with inventive handcrafted puppets made from organic materials found in the meadow and original music by the outstanding singer/songwriter Paul Mosley.

“…uniquely comforting” (Volume Magazine, Paul Mosley)
“A simple but very profound tale…genuinely awe inspiring.” (Hackney Gazette, Old Saw, Tomten)

“A honeyed voice and a garage orchestra of magic realist folk-pop. Excellent.”  (Q Magazine, Paul Mosley)
“Soothing and charming, intricate and calming…very talented children’s artists indeed.” (A Younger Theatre, Tomten)

The Meadow Orchard Project is a community permaculture garden, orchard, wildlife meadow and eco-building project located in Crouch End, North London.  The project was established to inspire and cultivate a creative, healthy and sustainable local community, drawing upon permaculture ethics and principles.

Our work activities include:

– food growing in our garden and polytunnel

– forest gardening and tree-care in our orchard

– wildlife habitat management of our rare meadow grassland, woodland areas, pond and bramble scrub

– eco-building to finish constructing our round-house, wood-store and oven-shelter pergola

– care and upkeep of the site, built structures and resources

We welcome volunteers and are open every Saturday for general workdays.  We have a range of activities and community events going on to learn new skills, meet others and enjoy being in nature. You can sign up as a friend of the meadow on our interactive social network site to receive regular updates of events and workdays and you can post up blogs, comments, photos and film clips too.

We hope to see you at the Meadow Orchard soon.
