The growing season really starts in earnest in April with longer days, (hopefully) warmer weather and less likelihood of frost! This year we are signed up with London Capital Growth’s Good To Grow campaign. This is a great incentive to really share what different community gardens are growing, encourage people to get outside, engage with nature and have fun!
As well as all of our beautiful fruit trees and perennial herbs, we currently have Lettuces, Peas, Beans, Garlic, Onions, Herbs, Tomatoes, Potatoes all growing happily and a whole heap of flowers and piles of seeds ready to germinate!
If you’d like to get involved, send us an email for more info!
Good to Grow Week 2024
From 22 – 29 April community gardens can join the week of action to celebrate the new growing season, opening their doors to new and current volunteers and building the Right to Grow movement!
And donβt forget the annual Good to Grow photo competition. This year, there’s Β£50 up for grabs for the winning two gardens!
All you need to do is post a picture of yourself getting involved in community gardening on twitter, Instagram or Facebook and tag #GoodToGrow2024 using one or all of these captions:
- Why you believe in the Right to Grow.
- Why your garden is growing for nature
- Why you love community food growing
Don’t forget to spread the word! Last year around 2000 volunteers took part in events across 137 gardens!
