What are we growing
Our growing season is really gaining momentum now, from garlic to broad beans, tomatoes to romanesco, all manner of seeds are being sown ready to plant out in our revitalised polytunnel and brand new raised beds.
We’ve cultivated the beds in the poly and installed a new row of pallet collar (reclaimed ones of course) beds under the propagation benches, that we can swiftly put into use as we start planting out our seedlings. The raised beds are looking great and we’ve started hot composting in bins on-top of the willow tree stumps to make use of that area. Spring bulbs will sadly be coming to an end soon, so we’ll be replanting those elsewhere and using those beds for annual crops.
Plant shopping
We also are also in the planning stages for a re-design of our herb beds. Experienced growers are often on site and keen to discuss medicinal herbs! We’ve raised some funds for potting composts for potting on, seeds and plug plants for the meadow and medicinal and culinary herbs for the two beds next to our our polytunnel. If there’s any particular plants that you’d enjoy to see at MOP, give us a shout as we love to accommodate all of our volunteers requests into the beautiful garden space!
Lets Grow together
If you pop down on a Saturday for volunteering you may be able to take home a propagator for your windowsill to get more crops started. We think this would be a great way to get involved and learn more about vegetable growing, and ornamentals too, we’ve a Kilo of sunflower seeds for our volunteers this year, feel free to ask for a pack!

Our long term goal is to grow vegetables and cook them up together into a nutritious, seasonal dish and share it with our volunteers and wider community on a first come first served basis every Saturday lunchtime.
Everyone is welcome, we look forward to seeing you!
