Winter sketching session
We started the new year on a high at MOP in’24, with a group of artists from the Crouch End Sketchers joining us on the 3rd of January. Alison a local artist and member of the group contacted us around November with a suggestion of the group meeting up for a sketching session in January. Not knowing what to expect weather wise, our site leaders were still happy to open the site and invite the artists in, there is always the shelter of the cob roundhouse or a fire to keep warm around!

Weather on the day was rather changeable, rain at first but this didn’t put off the intrepid artists, with around ten joining us! The weather soon improved, the cloud clearing and we were graced with some bright sunshine later in the day, really lighting up the roundhouse with that bright orange glow of the London clay cob walls.
It was fun to see how each artist found their own little vista to focus on, positioning themselves around the site to sketch their own viewpoint. Despite some cold fingers it was great to see the artwork and it really added a lot to see the rather wintry scenes and finding beauty in the dormant meadow and bare branches of our mature trees.
After the session the group moved on to share a well earned coffee, cake and a chat in a nearby caf. It’s really nice to join up with some of the local groups and share the wealth of creativity, keeping in touch via Facebook to see the next leg of their sketching tour!
