Sow & Grow 2025

In 2024 we had a bumper harvest at MOP, growing peas, beans, chard, tomatoes, pumpkin, squash, patty pan, courgettes, strawberries, garlic, onions and lots more fresh herbs, and leafy greens and salads.

We are currently planning for the upcoming growing season so we can hit the ground running and get a good start in 2025! What would you like to grow or more importantly what would you like to eat?

How to grow at MOP

  • Mini Garland Super 7 Propagator modules for sowing seeds at home to pot on at MOP (Email meadoworchardproject@gmail.com for details)
  • Community composting, use our bays for composting your own garden and kitchen waste
  • Capillary trays to minimise watering on site
  • Polytunnel benching for propagating for protecting young plants
  • Wicking beds and self watering containers
  • Generously sized 8x4ft semi raised beds, borders and herb beds for community use
  • Seed and Plant swaps

Last year we had a stupendous display of spring bulbs and the nasturtiums and phacelia made for a beautiful display, a real buzz of carder, bumble and honeybees enjoying them too!

Green manures help to regenerate soil whilst also providing a beautiful and pollinator friendly source of nectar and pollen too.

Potatoes are easy and the digging, earthing up and mulching helps to work and break up compacted soil, we also had a good result with hugelkultur, really helping to retain moisture in the soil during the height of summer.

Limited rainwater storage capacity required our volunteers to bring water in from off site, extra 205 litre HDPE containers are now on site to help increase storage capacity.
